If you change your own oil just put in as much as you took out. It's not rocket science to measure how much drained out. Put that exact amount back in. Done. Perfect. Have nice day. No need to debate about it.

Nice suggestion but that has absolutely nothing with the first post.

OP didn't work on it at home, which is why he has no idea if it was changed or not. Dipsticks can allow moisture into the oil. Not having a dipstick means it cannot leak moisture into the oil. Never would they consider "well maybe someone wants to know if the oil was actually changed". You can open the filter and check anyways if you were really concerned.

I love how this thread shows peoples reading comprehension skills are mostly terrible. Terrifying actually... Extremely hilarious though

No dipstick on the newer BMW's!!! It's actually displayed in the iDrive infotainment system menu, look it up under vehicle status or check the owners manual for detailed instructions.
I too would prefer a dipstick... makes it a lot easier and don't have to rely on sensors... IMO. |

Can the BMW sensor tell you if you have coolant in your oil?

A dipstick can. It's great that they added a sensor to tell you if your oil is low, but they should have left the dipstick in place. Not only does it check the oil level, but it allows you to see, feel and smell the oil which can give you way more information and help diagnose issues before they become too severe. |
