Yes ran them last year, performed very well for a performance based winter tire. Obviously going to be a lot softer than summers/all seasons when it comes to turn in, but happy with the performance. I ran Pirelli Scorpion Winters on my previous Macan and they are comparable.

Yeah I run 235/55-19 on 19x8 ET 35 aftermarket rims for winters. Advantage of that tire size is more to chose from than 245/50-19. Another option is 255/50-19, but wider is NOT better for winter tires.

Of course real world performance in deep slush/heavy snow might favor the narrower tire. Personally I've always gone with the conventional wisdom of going -1 in the winters in terms of wheel sizing - but my concern was more to get more sidewall. |

Hi All,
I picked up a '19 X3 3.0i Xdrive with the blue caliper M brakes and the 20" 699M wheels. I'm trying to find winter wheels/tires for this car. I've been reading this thread and it seems 18" do work and the biggest issue is the clearance on the calipers. On Tirerack, whether I select the M40i or 30i with M calipers I get the same wheels. However, on these other websites like quattrotires.com, when I select the different model cars, I don't get the same wheels to choose from. I'm looking at the Replica 165 in black as I see they work on the M40i. Since my car is the blue M calipers, I shouldn't have any issue selecting M40i on the website and using these Replica 165s on my xdrive with the blue calipers right? This is the post with the wheels I'm referring to: https://x3.xbimmers.com/forums/showp...&postcount=719 TIA! Last edited by bringit; 12-18-2023 at 10:05 AM.. |

In Europe, there is huge fines for manufacturer speedometer showing lower speed than actual so they go overboard the other way... Probably save you from big speeding fine. |

I am new to owning a car where it needs a winter setup. My question is, should I just replace the tires or is advisable getting a new set of winter wheels and tires?
If it is advisable I get a set of winter wheels as well, why is this the case? |

I suppose it depends on location and budget.
I’m in Scotland, so I bought a used set of BMW OEM wheels and winter tyres and they served me well during the last winter. Some people may advise you to go with an all season tyre and fit to your original wheels. There are many options but I guess the priority question would be how bad your winters are then take it from there!

Is it possible to run 275s in the front of an X3? I have the square winter set up from my X5 and would prefer to reuse them if possible. I read somewhere that they may rub...

The benefits of a separate set of wheels for your winter tires include reduced wear and tear on your nice primary wheels with mounting and dismounting twice a year with the chance of scratching/damage, reduced time/cost for mounting/dismounting and re-balancing each time, possible ability to make the swap at home if you have storage and a jack. If not, some tire dealers/installers will store your off-season set, so it's a quick "NASCAR" pit stop with 20 lug nuts and a quick change and you're off again. If you are not overly vain about appearances, you can get low cost wheels for winter when cars look like hell anyway with slush/snow/ice.

For those looking for winter wheels don't sleep on Velox wheels through Costco. I got this set of 20" for $825 shipped to my house in Alaska. It's free in the lower 48. All of their wheels are on sale this month for $200 off. This is the 4th set of Velox wheels and they have all been excellent as is their customer service!
