SLI coding
I had SLI coded by BimmerTech and it worked perfectly for a year. Yesterday I took my car to BMW Service for the usual oil/filters update and after I got the car back SLI is no longer working - I get - - - instead. BimmerTech wants to charge me again to code it back. Does anyone happen to know what needs recoding to get my SLI working again? I can code it myself if I know what to code. I hope to FSC coding would be needed as it was already done once when I activated it first time.

I did that. All SLI related settings are activated and seemingly haven't been changed by BMW. I am guessing they have changed my equipment list somehow and possibly removed road signs decoding. But I don't know for sure, only guessing. Would love to hear from someone who knows for sure what happened.

Try turning them off and back on. When I used eSys to code sport+ some of the BimmerCode settings didn’t work even though they were set. I had to cycle the coding with BimmerCode to get them working again.

It doesn't originally. When checking my VIN with a VIN decoder it doesn't appear in the list. I thought when BimmerTech coded it they added 8TH. But after taking it to BMW services it seem it stopped working.

I just wanted to share my experience of coding SLI with BimmerTech here. Definitely don't use their service. They charge significantly more than some people recommended by Shawn. But thats not the worst part. The worst part is that they don't get you an OEM FSC code. Instead they code some fake generated FSC code and then somehow make it accepted. It works just fine, but only until your next trip to BMW service. As soon as you go there or you do errors reset in ISTA yourself that fake FSC gets rejected and you have to pay BimmerTech to code fix again, which lasts only until your next trip to BMW.
So from personal experience: 1)I don't recommend to use BimmerTech, its expensive and short lived 2)When you code SLI make sure you get an OEM FSC for the VIN of your car if you don't want it to get rejected by your car in future and you having to fix it via another coding session again. |
