2011 F25 "To flash or not to flash, that is the question"
I have a 2011 F25 X3 35i with these options:
Premium, Technology, Convenience, Cold Weather & Dynamic Handling packages, HUD, Premium Sound, SAT radio The I-step is F025 10-12-503 for all three steps so I assume it has never been updated since built. There is nothing wrong, everything is working. I coded the sport display (HP/Torque) hoping to use that feature, but I never got it to display, so I don't know if flashing the CIC would enable the sport display or not. I don't want to upgrade just to upgrade since there is some risk involved, but if the newer firmware has some improvement, I'd be interested in upgrading all applicable modules. Maybe the sport display will work with the upgrade? The vehicle production date is 2011-02-10 so with an I-step of 10-12-503, it's pretty old. Any advise is appreciated. I looked through some of the flash procedures using e-sys and it looks doable. I'm up to date on for the software I downloaded from BMW for: > MX-3.5.4, TX-3.5.8 > TX-2.6.6 > MX-1.12.0 |

I am confused, the software versions you have listed, are they in your X3 or just what you have downloaded and havent installed yet?
I would install the latest software. And update the map as well. What are you using to code the sport display? Bimmercode? I used that and it works, but it shows kw and n-m instead of hp and ft-lb

I'm used e-sys to code the sport display. To change to hp/ft-lb you'll need to go into expert mode in bimmercode and enable EFF_DYN_SPORT_UNIT. I can't test this since I can't get my sport display to appear. What date is your build and what version is your I-step? Flashing upgrades/programs the firmware on all applicable modules in the vehicle. It's not for the faint of heart. |

My 2012 x3 3.5 the sport display when coded shows up, but the hp display is wrong, it only ever goes up to about 150hp?? For example i had a 2014 x3 2.8 before this and the display on acceleration would jump straight to 240hp, or in other words max hp. so something in odd here. Thoughts?

You can change the HP and torque display in the settings of your idrive, where you set the kilometres or miles! But its not calibrated correctly when its activated through bimmercode, it should go to 300hp when accelerate hard.

KOMBI maybe be called cluster 3008 PIA_Einheiten>DREHMOMENT> [value] where value should be 2 for lb-ft 3008 PIA_Einheiten>LEISTUNG>[value] where value should be 2 for HP If these values are not set to the above, change them to see if it now displays lb-ft & hp. I have the same experience and looking for answer myself as well. When I coded the sport display, it Works. however, It shows in KW and NM. I successfully changed unit to HP and Lbs in setting. Just like you said I think the reading is inaccurate. When I floored it, It only went up to 150hp but over 340lbs of torque. Anyone know how to calibrate it correctly? BTW, I used bimmercode. |
