derklink wroteCongrats! You’ll love it. I’ve had my M40i for less than three weeks and love everything about it.Ladies and Gentlemen, after a night with only little sleep and a day full of surprises, I pulled the trigger on a new 2019 M40i. Due to a coincidence, I ended up with what I now consider 99% accurate with how I would have ordered it. Phytonic on Cognac with Rhombicle trim and a good deal on top. What more do you want? Think us folks in the U.S. are very lucky to be able to get these at reasonable prices. Will take delivery Monday or Tuesday. Will dearly miss the "Stang" but right decision to try something else and the sound of the M40i ain't too shabby. Thank you all for hanging with me! :-)

Good choice on the Phytonic and Cognac!
When helping my mom configure her car we were hesitating between Carbon, Phythonic and Sophisto. We liked the Carbon because of the subtle blue undertone but the car we test drove (which had Carbon Black paint) was clean when we got it and not so clean anymore when we gave it back after a day of driving around with it, so it was deemed a bit too high maintenance.
My mom has always had blue cars but we found the Phytonic to be a bit too light on a big car like the X3, so we went with Sophisto Grey over Vernasca Cognac. It's a shame Mediterranean Blue / Tanzanite Blue aren't available on the X3!
Car is due to arrive at the dealer end of this week, so I'm excited!

Thank you, guys! The Carbon Black is sweet but too high maintenance for me. When I test drove one in CB, they had washed it and then it rained. The car looked dirty. Stains all over. That was the moment I decided that CB was not for me. Also, it didn't really pop in the sun light and swallowed most of the beautiful lines. However, we all have our preferences. It is a great car, regardless of color. For fun, I replicated my build on the German BMW website (I used to live there for quite a while). A whopping 80k €. I was shocked.

The only thing that would make carbon black better, other than being imola red, would be for it to smell like it just came off the mimeograph machine. Mmmmmmmm.....

Not able to pick up my car until Monday
my wife has to work the entire weekend (including today) and wants to be there. I thought about swinging by the dealership to peak but decided not to. Good thing there will be some Superbowl distraction on Sunday but the wait is going to be tough

My original plan was to set everything up over the weekend and to work on the break in period but oh well. Nah, not too much partying going on anymore so car will be mostly safe

I personally think Carbon Black looks good but I would not own one as it would drive me absolutely crazy to keep clean.
I am debating between white and silver right now... Silver has more depth (because of metallic) but white is... well white... Clean, crisp and perfect contrast with the other parts...

nvestr wroteTough call. What I did was that I looked to Carbon Black and Phytonic Blue cars standing next to each other and then I knew. if we didn't already have 2 other white vehicles, I'd probably would have picked white. Looks crisp, low maintenance, and does not get so hot in the sun. Good luck with your decision!I personally think Carbon Black looks good but I would not own one as it would drive me absolutely crazy to keep clean.

nvestr wroteI just picked up a Glacier Silver M40i last night and while I've never been a huge fan of silver, it really makes the lines of the X3 pop! So far I'm very happy with my choice of color and I'm someone that would have typically gone with the Phytonic Blue.I am debating between white and silver right now... Overall I find white to be too common and a bit boring, however, it stay clean the longest and if you add some of the black out parts like the badges, grille, and mirror caps it would look fantastic IMHO.

Looking to get new wheels and have heard mixed opinions on how well black wheels go with carbon black.
The black grill on carbon black looks nice.

I am picking up my M40i in Spartanburg, March 18 with Carbon Black paint and Black Vernasca leather with blue stitching. This is my third BMW with 'triple black' color as the salesmen say. Still love the combo...thinking about the black grills and wheel setup but might be just too much?

Regardless of color, I've become a fan of Ceramic protection. I've been a detailer all my life, bu the treatment truly makes the vehicle easier to clean with a deep finish. I payed extra to have my 21" wheels and M brakes teated and it is again surprising the ease in cleaning the brake dust. Mine is Alpine White which I've always selected because of maintenance and being a higher mileage driver, but ceramic treatment will have me considering dark colors in the future. A caution though, automatic washes that are anything but no touch, will likely impact effectiveness and warranty.

Quick question: Do you think the 19" all seasons are fine to put the power down? I only test drove the 20" and 21" summer tires. I wanted to go for the most subtle and under the radar look and roads here are terrible, that's why I went with the smallest wheels. I know the Bridgestones are not the best tires but hoping that the xdrive makes up for it. Thoughts?

derklink wroteGet some good all season tires like Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3+ or Pirelli P Zero AS+ both of which I've used and can vouch for. The Michelins are stiffer and will handle a hair better but tend to generate more road noise with age than the Pirellis. I'd throw either on my car any day.Quick question: Do you think the 19" all seasons are fine to put the power down? I only test drove the 20" and 21" summer tires. I have a Carbon Black X5 50i now. The color is beautiful and worth the extra care. Mines ceramic coated so cleaning is easier especially since I only handwash. Don't use automatic car washes. If you must wash the car (not by hand) use a touchless wash
