Carbon Cleaning
Has anyone done this ?
I've booked my appointment for next Wednesday as im about 112,000 KM My mechanic says N55 should be done about every 100,000 KM Will see the end result. |

Yes. That's one of the reasons for the walnut shells, tough enough to do the job but not so tough as to ruin an engine if some escape through the valves.
FWIW I will suggest it be used to solve a problem, if there is a problem, but not be done if things are running great. Some crap on the valves, as long as the seats are good and there's not so much build-up as to cause pre-ignition or anything, can be just fine. |

Not sure youw ould have to ask.
I just got my vehicle back, did the coolant expansion tank change & the valve cap as it was leaking as well as the carbon cleaning. Jeez, i took it out of the parking lot and was just slowing accelerating, i had to actually check if car was in sport mode. What a response difference!!! Mind you mine wasn't that bad, but still here are the before afters. Before: After: |

Sorry for the confusion alpwhite46. I meant what brand of gasoline. Specifically, do you consistently use Shell (as BMW recommends) or another top tier fuel?
