Yup, this is our next SUV/CUV. SQ5 was great but can't beat BMW driving dynamics. The X3 M40i hits all the marks except variable height air suspension. I can live without that.

Awesome utilitarian vehicle, but a loaded X3 M40i will likely cost $68k if the X4 M40i is any gauge. At that price, the upcoming Jaguar E Pace and Alfa Stelvio Quadrifoglio will be very tough competitors for only slightly more money. The Alfa Quadrifoglio will bury it performance-wise (if lightly equipped) since more features will come standard to begin with. The new Volvo XC60 will not be a pushover either. Very competitive segment.

Both X-Line and M look great, especially the interior. It does look a lot like the F48 X1, which isn't surprising since it's from the same designer. I still think my F48 X1 continues to looks fresh even after almost 2 years of ownership and think the same will apply to the look of G01 X3 as well. I believe it will be a strong competitor to Q5 and Jag E Pace.
It also has a selling point that it's made in the US.

Hey BMW, look, I get it, products like the X3 are the real money makers for the business. This new X3 design is great and it will probably sell like hotcakes. Even the outgoing X3, which is a few years old managed to outsell the more freshly designed vehicles, like the G-generation 7 and 5-Series. I understand business economics. However, this is still no excuse to not design an all-new engine for the F90 M5. Hell, if you would have designed a proper new ///M engine, be it a six-cylinder or V10 for the next F90 M5, it would probably not have impacted the bottom line of the company very much since you will be selling so many of these new X3's.
Sincerely, Disappointed ///M Fan P.S. I know there will be a bonafide X3///M in the future, please at least give that car the option for a Manual Transmission too!

Are there any pics of the cup-holder (tray?) thingy in front of the gear shift opened up? All the pics are not showing up for me.
I think G01 M40i will be my next vehicle. Tempted to wait for X3M, but scared of potential $90K price tag. |

xDrive with more pronounced rear bias then other X3 models?????
Unless it is the M xdrive on the upcoming F90 M5 that can manually switch between 2WD and 4WD, any biased xdrive is shit to me. 40:60? 30:70? as soon as the rear slip, ECU will send all the goddamn power to the front axle to prevent me from having fun even in the <dsc off>mode. I want 100% of the power at the rear as an option!!! Idiotic BMW Canada's boss stop all the rwd model coming to canada except for the current M2,3,4,5,6. 340 and 440 seem to have rwd option, but the new g30 5 series stops all together...fxxk that stupid fool! |

M40i in Phytonic Blue ext and Cognac interior will also be my next vehicle for the right price, if too expensive, then will settle for 30i w/ Msport pack in same specs. My 2015 BMW X3 lease ends this December so great timing

I hope management pays attention and rethinks their softening of car designs. BMW has truly squandered their reputation as the "ultimate driving machine." Realistically near term, I see BMW turning into a majority sporty SUV/Crossover brand. |

Do we know how pricing compares to competitors and when the X3 is expected to go in production? From what I understand they're still producing the 2017 models?

The door is not closed yet, but even if it happens, it will be in the next model year at the earliest. I think they'll want to make sure that they can bring the G20 with diesel too - selling a unique engine in a single model would make little sense.

Excellent evolution.
Kudos to BMW Design and Development teams for listening to their broad consumer base which is actually purchasing this popular-selling model. It is selling for a reason. From a personal standpoint may I suggest there is a defined thought process for why we (and others) have purchased previous X3s and plan on purchasing another. It has nothing to do with marketing. It has nothing to do with sales pitches locally. We have owned models from other Mnfrs and have ultimately focused on the X3 as it best meets our needs. This is not an affront to the other offerings - many of which are great vehicles, and many of which we have owned. This X3 iteration will continue to perfectly fit the needs for a utilitarian vehicle while/whilst still paradoxically allowing us the Performance, Handling and Engineering we were used to when we drove our 3er, 5er, and 7er series (and models from other Asian and European Mnfrs). |

It looks like it might be on the B pillar with the doors open.
