I bought this for myself . Went with Space Gray. Color seems to change depending on the light. Hides dirt and when scratches do appear they will be less noticeable.
I wanted an SUV good on gas. This foot the bill plus it scoots pretty quickly for me. I would only get the M sport on the 35i. |

Although it is my wife's daily driver, we got it together and both agreed on the color combination.
Alpine white, black interior, brushed aluminum, SAV package. Had I purchased it for myself, the differences would be: 35i instead of 28i, M-Sport Package instead of SAV, Addition of HUD. Color choices would have been no different |

A joint decision based on common sense and cost
We would have loved the X5 with a nice petrol V8 or twin turbo diesel engine. Unfortunately we pay £1.40 per litre of diesel thats £6.30 per imperial gallon or $10.10 converted to US dollars.
Comparing UK prices to US is interesting, current conversion rates would mean people in the US would pay $8.50c for a US gallon of diesel! In the UK we also pay an annual road tax based on engine emissions, this can be up to £460 ($737) depending on engine efficiency. My F25 2.0Ltr diesel costs me $208 a year for road tax and is very fuel efficient. The X3 provides us with a reasonably sized luxury vehicle that does not cost us an arm and a leg to run thanks to our tax crazed government. |

Just ordered 2013 X3 28i for myself. Carbon black w/Oyster includes Fineline Sienna, CWP/CWP II, CP, DHP, M Sport, PP & TP.
I have one child and we're both very clean so I wasn't concerned about light colored interior. Although my 7 year old said I should get black again. We take delivery toward the end of January and look forward to better gas mileage. I recently sold my '06 X5 4.8iS and up for sale now is my '01 540iA Sport. Did it all on my own (okay, the wife said I could)
Bought a 2013 X3 28i white with sand beige interior with the premium , cold weather, sound, and tech packages. Included the roof rails and dealer gave me the weather mats. So far, I'm really happy with the vehicle (6,780 miles). My mileage on a recent trip hit as high as 31.5 (calulated on filling tank and dividing into miles traveled). I bought the X3 for me to drive and tow things occasionally. We live in Michigan so the snow can fly and so can I. My wife said go for it so I put the options on it that work for me. Also added the BMW trailer hitch, which provides a very clean appearance, and the mud flaps.

I had a choice of two at a spectacular deal price. One titanium silver the other a light metallic blue. For me the silver, though too common here edged it.

This thread is surveying the color choice of men who choose interior and exterior colors for themselves. There's another thread for women's choices.
I can't think of any reason the M-Sport package would affect comfort on long trips. But that should be handled in another thread. Please start one if desired. |

Heck of a way to 1st post, but don't have much comment on the other threads and I'm new here:
Male/Mineral Silver/Mojave. No M package -- by choice. Car purchased as a 3rd vehicle for us -- primary family vehicle and my (likely) daily. The car I bought was off the lot and had to have a subset of options. The M-sport was an option on another x3, but decided against it as that option (and a few others on that car) just wasn't (weren't) what I wanted for the extra money. Having said that, I would have spent for the HUD if it were available, but we needed the car soon and I didn't want to wait to order. I think it's a matter of personal preference; still, I don't know that I would have picked it had I gone the build route. |

Bought for myself. X3 3.5i. Deep Sea Blue Exterior. Oyster Biege interior. Imported and waited 7 long months for it. Can't be more happy I have chosen Deep Sea Blue instead of the more conventional / popular color choices. It looks far better in person than in website pics or brochure and any other X3 colors I have seen in the showroom. And best of all, according to my dealer, nobody in my city will have this color! Since they have shift X3 production to local assembly and limit color choices to black, grey and white only. Well, at least I have not seen one on the road yet.
