God damn! The X is impressive against the 8 cylinder beast! Watch the head-to-head launches of these two, the X is amazing! The GLC with all it's torque takes the X off the line, but the X reels it in and flies by every time! (The races start at about 25 minutes in... they race several times)
And the hp/torque chart, considering we're comparing a big v-8 vs. a 3.0 6 cylinder, is surprising that the X numbers are as close as they are!

Thanks for posting. Confirms the C&D test that the X3MC is 0.1 quicker in the 1/4 mile. AMG has great low end torque. X3MC has great horsepower.
A standing 1/2 mile race would be awesome. |

Please note that both cars were on winter tires and the temp outside was around 2C.
Hopefully they will do this again during warmer months on proper tires.

Looked like the X4M passed the GLC63 at 240KMH (150MPH) and the second dig race passed him at 220KMH (136MPH).
Same from a roll, the X4M only passed the AMG at 220KMH. It even looks like the GLC hit the brakes?! The BMW has legs on the top end but where in the hell can I race someone to pass them at 135+MPH? Damn, was hoping for a better result. The GLC pulled a solid 1.5 cars from the get go and the X4M only passed it well into the triple digits.

That's why I can't wait for the stainless cat downpipe and remap. The best of both worlds!

The GLC is making 516 lb. ft. @ 1,750 rpm, vs the M, which is 442 lb. ft. @ 2,600 rpm. I guess it's splitting hairs really, as it boils down to weight, transmission ratios, and which you prefer for whatever personal reasons. I happen to think the M looks a million times better, but I just wish that BMW, considering the fact that they're SUV's and not race cars, made the new motor a torque monster down low, sacrificing top end, which for me, is unusable on the street. |

Ah, yes. Well, it definitely made me wish I understood Russian. The video was produced quite well and the narrator seemed very knowledgeable on cars. I got this impression despite understanding almost nothing. I wish it had subtitles.

To Mr Italy: ”Well, it definitely made me wish I understood Russian”
You can use the auto-generated subtitles for an approximate translation:

My wife is Russian, so I asked to help me with translation. The guy is very knowledgeable and he says that the race was totally even. GLC pulls harder due to high low end torque, but the high end hp of the MC nullifies the initial advantage. He also says that the MC is much better at steering and cornering whereas GLC has the better sound and looks (imo debatable). Another thing to consider is that GLC comes with wider tires and thus has better traction on icy road surfaces. It won't pull away from MC as much in summer.

Nicely done and narrated video. The presenter is a BMW fan, hence the "DSC Off" name of his channel. He used launch control early in the video, but unclear whether it was used during the two standing start races.
Largely confirms the general consensus -- (1) BMW noticeably lacks in low-rpm torque and sound, (2) GLC better sound, (3) BMW better handling. With regard to the suspension, he describes the X4M's feel as that of a tiger, albeit sometimes too harsh. He says the GLC is significantly softer and more compliant over rough pavement, but less capable in the turns. The two rolling starts were in second gear at 60 km/h. |

Looking at C&D data, the 63 wins a 30 mph rolling I think in reality the X4 will catch the 63 right at the 1/4 mile but we don't know if it will pass it by that point. Past that the BMW wins. I can't wait to see true side by side races in the 1/4 mile. The only thing that is certain is...they are both bad-azz!!!!!! . |

Oh, and let's not forget, a loaded GLC63S is $15k more than a loaded X3MC!
