Has anyone replaced their 20" wheels on the M40i yet?? I just changed all the gray accents (kidney grills, side vents, M badge, etc) to black and need the wheels done asap to match. I was going to go with a Beyern set, but the Discount Tire I was ordering through said the company told them the bolt pattern would not match and they did not have a matching one yet for the 2018 M40i. The guy said this was the best wheel for BMW as they specialize in them and the centercaps are easily changed to the BMW logos. But I am wondering if anyone can recommend another brand that has a black (gloss or gloss with matte is fine) wheel that I can order sooner than later. For reference I was going to go with the Bayern Antler style 20's.

Sorry, don’t have an answer, but I have been looking for after market wheels too. I’ve been struggling to track anything down in the UK which fits the bolt pattern and clears the brake calipers.

I really don’t want to use spacers...so interested to hear if anybody has had any more success.

I spoke to my BMW parts dept and the bolt pattern is a 5 x 112, but they did not have the offset listed. Hoping someone has that info...

I'm sure you could contact IND and work on a nice set of HRE is wheels. They have the specs because they measured my X3 earlier this year.

I don't know what your budget is.

I recommend looking up your options through tirerack.com as the easiest options right now.

I just ordered a set of vossen vsf1 in matte graphite 20” for my winter set with Pirelli scorpion winters. Went back and forth, but actually lots of options out there. I couldn’t justify forged, but these are flow forged, which is better than straight cast wheels. http://vossenwheels.com/galleries/3890/

G01 X3 and G02 X4 wheels specs...

Bolt pattern: 5 x 112. One of the problems is that BMW has used 5 x 120 for many years and is now transitioning to 5 x 112; an "experienced" wheel guy may not be up to date on this transition and get confused.

Width and offset: I know your question is about 20-inchers, but 30i model owners and those looking for 19" winter wheels may see this, so let me cover all X3 & X4 wheels. These numbers are for OE BMW wheels.

7" width offset 22mm

7.5" width offset 32mm

8" width offset 27mm

8.5" width offset 30mm

9.5" width offset 43mm

So for a 20" wheel for a M40i the stock/OE offsets are 27 front, 43 rear

On the M40i, with BMW supplied rims, 19". Apparently some aftermarket rims are fit at 18". The 19" are 55 series tires with 235 tread width. That is only 6mm less sidewall than the 18" 225 60

Thanks so much Larry and the rest of you for your responses too. I'm looking at some Savini forged wheels in black which is like $1600 for all four with tax installed etc ordered thru discount tire. Now that I have the offsets, I'll stick with only decreasing them by 2-4mm since I'm going up to a 9" front wheel and 10" rear wheel width (and likely later will increase the tire size width a bit too). I don't want it to stick out past the fenders really, just want a bit more aggressive stance. I initially wanted a wheel that was "busier", but decided to go more minimalist on it so that I can see the blue M calipers better. I'll post pics once they arrive and get installed.

Thanks. This is really helpful as looking at wheels just now.

Apologies in advance for the stupid question...but what does the 66.6 refer to?

Thanks

Lots of great info in here.

I am a turd, but from what I think I see a few posts up is that an 18" wheel should not clear the brakes? I should look at 19"?

So the best solution is to test fit.

18" Bmw wheels will not the clear the msport brakes on the g01.

You could find aftermarket 18" wheels that will clear. Car las winter was so new that no one had wheels on the shelf to test fit.

People were playing it safe with 19" for the clearance and looks

Wat happens if car size is 66.66 and the aftermarket wheels are say 72?

Is it just different bolts I need or is it more complicated?

You could probably find an an adapter to reduce the center bore but you risk creating vibrations. It really depends on the quality /precisión of the components.

The picture will show where the center bore is measured.

The bolt pattern you need is 5x112. ( previously 5x120 for non g series models )

I have aftermarket wheels. They are 19x8.5 ET32. The 66.6 mm CB hub fit's perfectly. I went with a bigger tire 255/50/19. They fill out the wheel well very well.
