TPMS sensor replacement help
My 2018 m40i had one TPMS go out last December, I had Costco change it and the new one worked fine. I was having new tires installed this week and had the remaining 3 replaced, my car reader said they were all low battery so I figured I would get ahead of the curve. Costco looked up the part they used last time and replaced 3 more. The car will not get past 34% on the TPMS reset. Any suggestions?

I believe sometimes one has to drive a bit before the sensors sync and system reset occurs- perhaps try that for a couple days or more and see.

TPMS are always a little strange, but I'd put on some miles and get it some time. Costco has a great warranty/return policy, so I'd just see what happens.

Do you know which brand was installed by Costco? Check my thread about Discount Tire, they use the Schraeder brand.

Reset the TPMS in the iDrive, then go for a long drive that includes getting on the highway and up to highway speeds.

After repeated resets and if it still gets stuck at 50% or less then it most likely is a defective sensor. I had 4 brand new OEM BMW sensors installed, had this problem and took to BMW service and was diagnosed with 2 defective sensors.

It's possible one of the sensors is bad out of the box or got damaged during tire install.
I have seen both. unless you have access to a code reader that can read the modules in the car to check for TPMS faults or a TPMS scan tool, you should probably take it back to Costco To let them know about the issue. |
