How much am I looking at fixing rear fender and right wheel arch?
Someone accidentally hit my car parked in a parking lot, I was not in the vehicle but saw it happen. Luckily, a nice person and stayed on the spot while we exchanged info. It looks like some small dents and scrapes of the rear fender, scratches on the rear tire and the plastic grey wheel arch. How much at an Indie body shop am I looking at getting this fixed, assuming the other persons insurance will pay for it?

I had such a thing when I ignored the auto brake thinking I knew better. It transpired the car knew better and got such a gouge even deeper. IIRC cost be about 200-300 quid and I couldn't tell it was ever there after,
In dollars that's probably about tree fiddy. |

From my experience, I think you are probably looking at somewhere around $700 - $1,000 (parts + labor) but this really depends on the shop and region. I am in California and I feel like things tend to be a little more expensive compared to Virginia. Other's insurance should cover 100%, just provide the police record to your insurance company and they will deal with it.
You're really lucky in this case, last time I had this happen, the guy just hit-and-run, I saw it in a long distance, but thankfully, someone helped me to take down the license plate numbers. I also have a few hit-and-run cases where I just take the bullet as I didn't catch them. |

Ahhh - just re-read. Mine didn't have the wheel arch plastic trim and the indie guy just filled and sprayed. With parts for replacement of plastic may be (sadly) > tree fiddy :-)

So this is possible to just repaint instead of replacement the part right? If it’s just repaint can I fix it myself and ask their insurance to just pay me in cash? Replacement is a lot more expensive |

If the other person's insurance would pay for it, why would you want to try it yourself? Unless you are very adept with touch-up paint, and in this case, no touch-up stick will make it look right, you'd be looking at spray color, then spray clear coat, with attendant blending and buffing. And odds are it still won't look right. Also, the trim on the corner where the sensor mounts to the bumper looks like it's been pushed out. I'd leave it for the body shop. That wheel arch trim looks to be the unpainted plastic (sorry, I can't really tell from the pic) but that's basically a snap-out and snap-in piece.

I can't tell from the picture....BUT IF it's only "scuffed" I'd FIRST rub it out myself with a good wax and a a few terry cloth towels. Elbow grease might remove all the "scuffs"........but if paint is rubbed off then you need a body shop. That part of the car is just flexible plastic and probably isn't dented so try first to rub out the black marks FIRST.

It is difficult to determine from this photo. From the picture alone, I say you have a good shot at getting most of it off, start with spray wax and a microfiber towel. You can try some polish or rubbing compound.
On the other hand, a collision center should be able to give an estimate for free, but I know things add up very quickly when they look very mild. From your description alone, I would estimate repair cost as $2000-3000. How I know: just based on two collision repairs in the last twelve months. |

Make a clain to the other person's insurance company. Then get an estimate. Bimper cover may be able to be filled and painted or maybe will need replacement. The black wheel arch needs replacement...can't fix that. It also looks like some scuffing on the wheel...that would either be wheel refinishing or replacement. Let the other insurance company eat the bill...

You don't need to make a claim. The person that hit you makes the claim through their insurance. This is a fairly large area to touch up and will never match. If you want it to look like it never happened, take to your body shop of choice, get their estimate. and have the person that hit you get it approved by their insurance. In some rare cases, you may need to take to their body shop of choice but you have the opportunity to object if you don't feel comfortable with the place.

$1100 for both is what the shop quoted me. I'll see what their insurance allows. |

Hard to see from your pics what the extent of the actual paint/plastic damage is or any dents/deformation. But that is your bumper cover, not fender. And just FYI, even if it was your fender it would not be your fender. Fenders are at the front of the car. At the rear it's called a quarter panel. 90% of that would polish out, although I'm not sure why people are saying to use spray wax. But just have it done and let the other persons' insurance pay. But a good quality respray of a bumper cover will be about $1,000. Probably $300 or so for the wheel arch plastic. You also say the tire is scratched. I assume you mean the wheel. Refinishing a wheel by somebody who is any good will be at least $200. So that's probably a $1,500 repair.
