Weather tech
I got my cargo mat today. I'm happy to now have some protection in the trunk.
This is my first Weathertech product. I'm a bit disappointed in the feel of the material. I was expecting something thick, dense and rubbery. A mat. It's very thin, maybe 1/8", and quite light, I'd call it a tray more than a cargo mat. As such it is a bit malformed from shipping, which I hope will go away with some time and heat. I have some floor mats on order as well, I'm assuming they'll also be more like thin trays than mats. The fit is rather good, which mitigates the flimsiness aspect by keeping it in place. I noticed there are some outlines apparently where tie-downs go. I'm wondering if I'm supposed to cut these out or what. It doesn't sit quite flat in these areas due to the tie-downs underneath, at the same time I don't want to cut it and have it look sloppy. |

I wouldn't cut them out unless you use the tie downs frequently (and in the same exact spot every time, for the side ones).
The side tie downs that slide in the channels can be removed to let the cargo mat lie flat. No reason to keep them there all the time. |

Bummer to hear that it is so thin. You can see in your second photo how the edges curl where I would expect it to be more solid. I use WeatherTech for the F30 and it is great - sturdy and thick.

Is it possible it isn't a genuine WeatherTech mat? Long ago, I heard of knock-off imitations, but I don't know if that is still a problem. Where did you buy the mat?

I guess. I bought it straight from their website, Weathertech.com Came in a white box with the Weathertech logo on it. Shipped from "Weathertech direct, LLC".

I saw some samples at the local store here and it does feel pretty thin to me... and yeah like you said, it feels more like a plastic tray.
I'm debating if I should get this or tuxmat. Does anyone own a tuxmat? |

I don't see where Tuxmat offers anything but the floor mats? I have their floor mats and they look nice in the box - I don't get my M40i until tomorrow to see how fitment is. I ended up ordering from Canvasback to protect the cargo area.

Ive used Weathertech floor matts in other cars/trucks and, honestly, would not use again. The material is not only thin, but become brittle and non flexible in colder weather. I have gone to Husky, but Husky doesn’t make anything for the M40. I’m using OEM all weather matts (includes cargo matt).

I've used weathertechs for years in all weather conditions, +30c, -30c. Never had an issue with them. Despite being thin, they've never torn, or worn in an appreciable way. I don't mind that the cargo cover is thin, it makes it easier to remove and it's not like we're throwing tool boxes into truck beds like the commercials. My cargo liner was a bit curvy at first from being curled in the box, but it relaxed in a couple days and fits perfectly.

The weathertech boot liner (trunk liner) is pretty expensive in the UK - like $130 USD. Considering other vendors make something which looks at least of comparable quality for less than half the price, is it really worth it?

I know others have posted these before, but another review can't hurt. I got the floor mats today and I will say that the material seems far more suited to the small tub size. While it looks to be the same stuff it feels much higher quality and more rigid in this shape. The fit is decent, though there seems to be a 1/2" gap along the seat side. Probably no big deal.
I also got the back seat mat and that feels floppy and thin like the cargo tray, again most likely due to its size and shape lacking any reinforcement. It sits in place and I'm sure it will protect well, it's not like I'll be handling it much. It's a little odd fitting around the hump, doesn't quite fit perfectly but close enough. |

i just ordered the maxliner kit for my car i am hoping its not thin.
With the baby coming in a few months i want to make sure its not brittle, and all spills are contained wherever they occur in the car. They should be arriving in the next day or two. |

I had Weather Tech liners for my X4, and loved them. Now that I've parted ways with my X4, I hope to sell them on this forum. PM me if interested. Front and rear liners.

Hi. Just wanted to add that if your are ordering the front mats you will need to contact WeathTech so they can send you the tie down hooks if they did not already. My 2019 X3 did not have tie down hooks for the mats. It was a Velcro type system. With the hooks the mats are all over the place. They sent them free of charge and took about 5 days.

I have WeatherTechs in 3 of my other 4 cars. I only have the rear cargo mat in my other SUV, an Acura MDX, and I would say it is kinda flimsy if you ask me.
Two of the cars have black interiors and one has beige interior. The black interior mats have seemed to hold up pretty well, though they will start to wear and get marred. The beige in my MDX are getting worn more, though it gets more wear and tear too. Don't get me wrong. I do recommend them, though they will eventually wear and they are easier to maintain than regular mats. The X3M40i that I'm taking delivery on in a few weeks will definitely get WeatherTechs in the 1st and 2nd rows. I am on the fence about the cargo mat and would like to find something a little nicer. The cargo mat that came OEM with our Infiniti EX 35 is nicer and thicker than the WeatherTech cargo mat also and is 10 years old and has held up very well. Hope this helps. |
