Brake clicking noise
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com I have had this brake clicking noise when braking from about 15mph to stop. Send the car into the dealer and they told me it's normal due to the brake setup. Anyone has the similar issue or what do you think? Thanks![IMG][/IMG] |

I’ve found the brakes surprisingly quiet coming from an E46 M3 Comp.
That said I only have 200 miles and have not driven with the windows open. Will post back if I hear anything |

I had the same thing - very frustrating! - dealer sent me an official BMW video that says it is normal for M brakes and nothing can be done...
Find it completely ridiculous that going from my M140i to a 'proper' M car and now I have almost unbearable brake squeal/knock if the windows are open but hey apparently we just have to live with it |

I'd go do some repeated high speed hard stops on the brakes that might help bed them in and deal with the squeal sometimes it's the shims etc....

Sounds like there might be warping or unevenness on the rotors.
Like someone else mentioned, do hard stops to bed the brakes and see how it behaves. If the sound persists, raise the issue with BMW. |

I've reported this a few months back. It's constantly clicking when coming to a stop and it seems to come from the drivers side front brakes. Sadly have not had a chance to bring it to the dealers for inspection. Waiting for my upcoming oil change to address the issue along with a manufacture recall on rear camera.
Not sure if it's normal (it shouldn't be) as it can be heard from outside. So far it has not affected the braking. |

You can hear it inside the cabin with no music on. My dealer just said even they replaced the brakes it would come back so they refuse to do anything. Plus the non fixable door trim issue on this car, things are getting annoying even I love driving it.

I get a squeal at low speed stops if it's damp out. Dry or wet is no problem. It's an M brake"feature". I can live with it. Dealer has a note from BMW Germany that it's normal on all M cars.

That's what BMW says, but how come other manufacturers brake system that's equivalent to BMW's don't make that noise?

Agree. I hate it when both my neighbors are outside talking one owns a GT2 RS the other a GT4 and I pull up to my drive way and my breaks squeal. I just get that fix your damn brakes look

I’ve found it happened when the brakes were wet. After the 1200 service I’ll bed them. |

They ended up replacing both front pads and rotors and now I don't experience any of those issues. |
