Extended CPO Warranty Advise

Hey Guys, new owner of a carbon black 2020 x3 m40i. Got it with 35k miles and CPO until 10/25. When doing the financing paperwork, I agreed to the extended CPO coverage which goes until 10/2027 with no milage limit (4400.00). I also added the tire/wheel coverage for 2000.00, the paintless dent removal coverage for 500.00 and the lost key coverage for 300.00

Its only been a few weeks since i've had the x3, i could back out of those coverages. What are your thoughts on them? worth it? or too expensive?

Thanks in advance.

Garage List
Back out and self-insure

That’s a lot of bad wheel damage
A couple very bad dents
And one lost key

If you have that much “bad luck” watch out for lightning strikes. You may get hit twice.

I already got 3 wheels replaced
1 windshield replacement
6 rock chips

With the extended warranty

The Windshield was about $1100
Tires $350-400 each
$45-60 rockchips

Do your math.

I am covered for 5 years
Paid $3000 wheels and tires
And $1700 for windshield, rockchips, dents, key replacement.

I drive a lot

No glass coverage on your insurance? That seems like a waste of money. Wheels and tires, if bad enough, should be covered by insurance, or certs from the dealer once you're on your second set.

OP, get a refund on all of that, and self insure.

Honestly, I've never heard of a warranty on a lost key...for a little less than the cost of a key? You don't say how much the CPO coverage was, but I'd guess you're in it for about 5k? If you're set on having coverage, there's a guy on the board that sells them at a great discount from a specific dealer.

As above, get refund on that tire-dent-key coverage. Way too much.

Only Windshield, I don’t know if that means glass, but included the replacement is the crack is big enough.

Here were I live the Cartel throws spikes on the road to stop by the Mexican Military and Federal Cops… so, insurance on tire/rims is worth it, plus all the holes in the streets.

In my past BMW, I did got a bent rim, and 2 cracked Rims.

My extended CPO was $4400.00 but I'm seeing the g01 platform is pretty reliable. I'm coming from an n63 2011 x5 50i which was a nightmare so thats why im a bit weiry. Without all the coverage it would bring down my payments from 564.00 to 388.00

I'd give your sales guy a call and see how his broken arm is doing? That poor guy got a high five so many times from everyone at the dealership after closing your deal he's gotta be hurting.

In all seriousness, you got taken hard. If you can cancel, I'd cancel all that stuff.

$500 deductible on windshield from your insurance company. Many policies have glass coverage already at like $5 a month and it's no money out of pocket.

Touchup paint is $20, it'll cover 500 rock chips

How did you damage 3 wheels? That must have taken some effort

My car insurance is $500 USD deductible but it will affect my insurance since I am submitting a claim. Plus they will install a cheap one if necessary.

The extended Windshild warranty has no deductibles, and they will install the BMW original one (with bmw logo).

For tires, they had nails and they replaced them with new ones for $50 USD dedictible. I remeber one nail was closed to the tire wall or side, i don’t know what is called.

Insurance is never going to be a good deal. The insurer is always making money off you. So you should only insure when you won't able to deal with the losses yourself.

Liability or total loss of your car - you need insurance.

Dents? No. It's not necessary to fix, and your expected cost is less than the premium... if you decide to fix it.

$4400 for an extra two years of warranty? Suggest you cancel everything. Waaay too expensive.

$4400 for two extra years of warranty? That's a lot of repairs. I'd bail on that and all the other coverages too.

Think if you do really need CPO as well.
I learned in the hard way that whatever I have broken after my main warranty is expired is not covered by CPO...

Good man! Throw the money you saved into a savings account and you likely wont even use any of it in that time period that your extended warranty was good through.

As if we didn't already know these things are a scam this just goes and shows just how big of a scam it is. They should list the things it "covers"... it would probably be a one sentence discription. What a ripoff
