Light Off-Roading with the X3MC

On Sunday afternoon, we did some light off-roading near Big Sur. Our route was Coast Road, which was the only way to continue to the journey from southern to northern California via Highway 1 until the Bixby Creek bridge was completed in 1932.

It's a fairly easy trail but Hill Descent Control came in handy at several points.

Just prior to hitting the trail, we did a few launch control starts and clocked a very unofficial 3.8 seconds from 0 to 60.

Funny you post this....I picked my car up Monday....yesterday I got caught on a road that was not at all a road. I did forging and some really serious off-roading...x3m handled it well but I was freaking out. May have damaged my rear right suspension and possibly scraped my front bumper. Not at all happy.

Taking the X3M/X4M off-road!
https://www.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1742866

Yep it's reasonably capable and I didn't feel like it beat me up. 1/4 mile in the 11s and ability to do basic side-road/off-road is pretty great!

GPS sent me down a "road" that was def not a road. There was no way for me to turn around so it was either do it in reverse or keep going. So I pressed on...there was some significant boldering, deep water, big roots, etc. It was not like a crazy keep required trail, but it was way more than an x3m had any right to be on.

It handled it well though. Didn't bottom out, my fiancé spotted me a bunch. It didn't slip much. It was honestly a beast considering it's limited ground clearance...and summer tires.

LOVE the photo with Bixby in the background.

epic! HWY 1 is so awesome and looks like you took it to the next level and experienced even more of that area. I need to look into where you were, would love to see that area where you took the photo of the bridge in the back

When you said light off-roading I expected to see it parked in a Costco parking lot with cracked pavement given that's the most off road the majority of these vehicles will see.

I technically did some light off-roading, parking my X3M in a grass field, among 100 other classic Bimmers. The picture isn't the best, with its early morning color cast. Note I later parked the X3M on a steep uphill grass area and noted it drifted back about 6 inches in Park in the other thread before I activated the parking brake.

I think this is really all-roading or off pavement. BMW likes to say all road as in dirt and gravel roads. Yeah my neighbor went off raiding in his new Tacoma trd, took his kids to the pumpkin patch where the parking lot was gravel
