Just been told there are no Verizon phones that work with BMW Office
Since I've posted questions about the subject previously, I wanted to share what I just learned. After taking a week to track down the answer, my BMW sales rep just called to tell me that BMW USA confirmed that Verizon does not currently have any phones that will work with BMW Office.
I find this both disappointing and frustrating. If one of the X3's frequently touted features doesn't work with the nations largest wireless carrier, it should be clearly stated. At the very least, I would expect whoever is selling BMWs to have sufficient knowledge of the car’s features, especially ones like BMW Office that are heavily marketed by BMW and highlighted during test drives and sales pitches. |

Exactly, how can it not. I can't help but wonder about your SA. That doesn't sound right to me. So far, I've been able to get 4 different bb's working with Office, but NO OTHER smartphone i.e. iPhone etc to work with Office.
So is your SA then saying that there ARE BB devices on other carriers that do work with Office? Sounds a bit dodgy. Dave

I'm only going by what my CA and his manager said BMW USA told them, which is there is no Verizon phone that will work. According to them, you have to have a BB with AT&T. I'd love to find out they are wrong. Has anyone paired a Verizon BB with BMW Office and got emails and texts to work?

I'd still be astonished if a Blackberry from any vendor doesn't work, BUT I absolutely wouldn't put it past Verizon to cripple the Bluetooth profiles on their flavor of BB.
They've done stuff like this in the past - they want to limit features available over Bluetooth so you're forced into using thier services (vcast, ringtone downloads, etc.) |

I finally took possession of my new X3. Because my sales person told me no Verizon phones would work with Office after he sold me the smartphone integration and BMW apps, he deducted their costs from what I paid. While taking delivery, the sales person paired my new Verizon Blackberry Bold with OS6 to the car, and as reported above, Office seemed to work (emails and text displayed on my nav screen). We both laughed.

I'm gonna take a swag and say he most likely has the phone reading the emails, possibly using the audio out, like an iPod. Most any smartphone has software that an do that - the ability for the car to perform that ("Office") is still limited to certain BB's.

No. When I pull up the messages through the Idrive there is a play button. When I click on it through the Idrive system It reads the email out loud. The functions however arent fully working. After my original post I realized it Would truncate the email. There are buttons to "scroll down" to the next paragraph and on long emails this function is grayed out and not selectable. I can't get to the body of the email through idrive other than the first few lines that are visible. It works, just not fully integrated yet. Hope this changes with software updates.
