BIMMERPOST APP 7.x Thread

Ok everyone, we are onto the latest version of the iOS (iPhone, iPad) App, which is now 7.x!

This new version has a new underlying architecture so there were a ton of changes that went into it from the already solid 6.x base, but time marches on and alot of small little updates were needed here and there so they all got rolled into this at once.

Now, because there were so many underlying changes done, there are likely to be an INCREASE in bugs relative to the 6.x version. I tried my best to make the app look identical to the 6.x version, but rest assured huge portions are just brand new.

So as usual, as you see the bugs (or if you want to see new features added into the app), this is the place to do it. Im all ears. Development of the 7.x series of the app is working in tandem with the new beta bimmerpost sites https://www.e90post.com/beta/showthr...s-new-requests

This has important implications in that when a feature is added or changed, it might break in the app. Good news is that updates will be much easier to do earlier and faster on this version

All of a sudden I couldn't open my iPhone'a app and was asked to sign in to my account. When I tried, I received an error message stating the "Security Token Expired".

I cannot sign-in and use the app.

Does it happen it you completely close out the app, re-open and try doing a fresh login? (tap the user icon on the top right and then tap to login)

Hi, folks. The app hasn't been working properly for my wife since the most recent updates. Going to any forum shows a "No Connection" "Could not form a connection (Error)" message. Logging out/in, and even completely reinstalling hasn't fixed this. While I'm experiencing other issues (notably a bunch of things missing from My Forums), I'm unable to reproduce the issue. I attached a screenshot. Note how all the icons are missing on the left side as well. It's really strange.

Hi apptest, thanks for all the work updating to version 7.0.0 of the iOS BIMMERPOST app! I imagine it represents a lot of time and effort!

I’m noticing that it marks threads as read differently than the 6.x version of the app. I prefer the previous way of marking threads as read.

When I’ve fully read through a thread, now the thread stays bolded (which means unread to me) until I refresh the thread list. Only after manually refreshing does it then show the thread as unbolded (which means read to me).

I’ve attached a couple screenshots. One shows the top thread as unread, even though I’ve fully read it. The other shows the thread list immediately after a manual refresh: the top thread then correctly shows as read.

Hey, that was me working on something on the site while she was trying to access it. it should hopefully be fixed now. Also I noticed a new bug directly in your post you made, can I ask where did you make that post from? (App, website? if website, which subset was it? One of the new beta sites or an old site?)

This is now fixed in upcoming version 7.0.1 (which is submitted to the App Store for approval-- so hopefully will be available in 24-48 hours!)

What's the process for adding the e90 forum to myforums so I don't have to navigate from the top level everytime? Is this only done on the desktop site?

When you are in the forum there is an icon that says 'my' in the icon bar (to the right of the title), just tap that

Ah I see it now, I was hoping it would be at the entire forum level rather than a subforum, like for all of e90post so I can get to all new posts easily.

Ok for that I think what you are talking about is a standard new posts list (for the entire site), when you are looking at the entire site list, there is a tab at the top that says Forum List / New Posts. Click on New posts. is that what you are talking about?

Hey I’m not exactly sure why they wouldn’t but I can probably diagnose and fix this now. Right now looking at the data I have, you are supposed to have 16 my forums set. Can you let me know which ones aren’t showing up for you and maybe an example of which one is showing and I can do some investigation

Yes that’s the correct path. It’s an interesting concept to short-cut all that just for e90post. Obviously there are people who are members for other sites so that’s impossible, but the concept of a ‘shortcut’ is not a bad one. Something I will look into more in the medium term

I used the website to post it but I don’t remember which one. It was one of the newer experience forums though since it let me directly attach an image.

Also she tried the site from the app and still doesn’t work. Same error as before. Logging out/back in didn’t fix it.

Definitely seen a couple of the bugs already reported but it’s great that the embedded YouTube videos are now able to be played again!
