I deleted the My BMW app

Since the last update, the My BMW app has been draining the battery in my iPhone at an alarming rate. The iPhone shows lots of background activity even though I have background activity turned off. I have deleted the My BMW app...I rarely used it. Won't be missed.

Yeah, myBMW App is superb, its got a rating of 4.9* with 150k reviews, that is off the charts good. Like you said: it does not ding the battery at all...ever. It does not get any better. A favorite thing to do while sitting on the couch is checking fuel, tire pressure and oil. (All Good)!

I think BMW could change the "All Good" to "Ready to Rip" LOL!

I should probably delete mine. Connected drive services expired when the warranty ran out, and without an active subscription, the app is basically worthless.

On an iPhone you could "off-load" the App without deleting it and then restore it when needed. frees up space and it won't use any data while "off-loaded".

That doesn't sound normal at all — try to reinstall it. I have zero issues with mine. Do you regularly update your apps?

Yes, but it sounds like the problem might be with the app, so it would make sense to delete and install. It really takes the same amount of time)

Ditto, checked and even with background app refresh disabled, it was enabled and greyed out on the My BMW app. Managed to force off, will keep an eye on it, as background refresh time is far greater than anything else

I really do like and use the app,

Wife never locks her X5 or puts gas in it lol. I use it all the time to make sure its locked, gassed up, and the tire pressure is good. Also no issues draining my iPhone 14 pro.

I like the app though think I found some bugs the other day. It showed my trunk open at one point and then later showed the car unlocked and door open. I checked both times and the car was locked with everything closed. Anyone else had that happen with the app?

I’ve never seen this after a refresh (pulling down the screen - at least that’s how I do it on my iPhone). It also shows the time of the last status update so that might help. I’ll keep an eye out to see if that happens on mine.

We don’t get remote start here, but I use the remote ventilation feature activated from the app before returning to the car when it’s warm.

I also find the trips/mpg info useful.

No, but a while ago it said service required due to some kind of fault, but when I closed and reopened the app the message disappeared. Otherwise it's been solid for almost 2 years for me.

Odd. never had an issue with it

sounds like there is a larger issue with your phone/ software updates/battery

The BMW app is rock solid from what I can tell and I use it all the time

I agree, The remote ventilation has been particularly useful during this unusually hot weather. Note: for us Scottish folk, hot weather is anything about 16 degrees Celsius.

I’ve been using it from when I leave the office at the end of the day, means I don’t have to leave a window open so the car is still secure.

The draining most likely has more to do with the iOS or other apps on your phone. Like others said delete and reinstall will probably cover it.
