Good Evening Everyone,

I tried searching the forum for this, but everything I was able to find was relating to warranty plans and not the factory maintenance plan.

Curious if bolt-ons such as intake would void the standard maintenance plan (3yr/36k mi)?

Based on what I’ve read, the service center will likely report a “mod” through the system voiding my warranty upon sight, even if not in for warranty service?

Would love to know if I would need to worry about the standard maintenance plan and potential impact. I found general T&Cs, but nothing made me feel that it would be disqualified from the OE plan.

I am not savvy enough to switch between OEM and aftermarket parts.

Thanks so much!

Best case scenario, the stealership will refuse to work on whatever you modded. Say for example you have a non-OEM intake, they will not change the air filters for you.

Most of them though are pricks so yes, they will void it. I personally witnessed the local stealership flag and void warranty on all suspension and steering components on an M3 because the guy swapped out springs to fix the crashy OE suspension. They did so when the dealer couldnt make the car keep alignment after he swapped springs and paid said stealership for an alingment.

I asked my SA if an intake would void the warranty, and he said it depends on rare circumstances, but I would be fine since most of the new vehicles he services are modded. So I ordered one and also appreciated my mid-pipe.

I would say it depends on your SA.
