Good morning/afternoon everyone. Wanted to see if anyone could help. I’m currently running xHP stage 2, but without custom settings outside of active line pressure and lanch from 2nd gear. Can anyone recommend or share what they use? I don’t want to kill the transmission, but want the most out of xHP I can get while maintaining the health of the transmission

Why in the world do you want to take off in 2nd all the time, I would only flash that for when you are planning on launching from a dig and only if traction is an issue trying to launch from 1st gear from a dig.

That is why, I’m running JB4 tune on a custom map and E30 blend. Unless you are throwing huge tires on the back or get beadlocks you will spin. Also in my case and I’m not sure if there’s an issue but 1st gear is pushing too much boost when launching for the ecu since it’s not on a custom flash tune. So I’m bogging in 1st.

But it only uses this mode when launching. Not daily driving

If you want you can also select from XHP preset maps and then from there make small adjustments to create a custom map for each drive mode.

First go to shifting screen, click the edit button on shiftmap editor, click on the downward arrow on the S-mode and choose their presets from neutral to sportive+. After selecting the preset map you want to try go back one screen and click on the customize tab to see what settings are used and from there take notes and adjust to your driving style.

Wellll... First off based on what you said OP you want the most out of XHP but without killing transmission. You need to be in Stage 3. All other adjustments others can guide you.
Enjoy your braap.

Anybody ran stage 2 for a while and the switched to stage 3? I'm on stage 2 for a while now and wondering what the switch would be like.

I feel that I remember reading somewhere that stage 3 starts to put more stress on things.

A weired question: does any stage 1/2/3 change more low-level TCU settings that aren't covered by any custom settings?

I still keep running stage 0 stock map but has changed all the settings like shift map/ upshift torque reduction/shift speed asignment/etc and I have made the transmission behaving very differently now.

If maps really make things faster than from what I can access, I ll definitely go for them

be careful as this stage 3 adds a decent amount of stress on trans and internal components

I'm partially hijacking an old thread to get more information about the shift map editor despite reading: https://rbttuning.atlassian.net/wiki...Flash+Settings
  1. There are configuration options for D-Mode and S-Mode. Is S-mode considered when you've got the car in Sport mode (or I guess an individual setting where the transmission is set to Sport)?
  2. Does that mean D-Mode is everything else (comfort, adaptive, eco) although presumably the effect of any custom settings varies accordingly?
  3. Where does manual mode (shifter to left) fit into this for customizing these shiftmaps? Is it just a slightly sportier version of D (comfort/adaptive/eco) and Sport?
  4. Using stage 2, I find comfort/adaptive upshifts too soon and down shifts aren't soon enough under light-moderate throttle. Probably great for gas mileage but annoying any driving enjoyment. Sport is a little better though still a bit annoying. I often drive in manual (shifter to left) if doing anything spirited. Is the Sportive preset the one used by default for Sport mode? If so, is setting the Sport preset for D-Mode and then customizing it from there a wise way to start? Or is there no correlation and it's all trial and error.

Just to clarify.. D mode is when you put the shifter in drive, s mode is when you move lever to the left ( it may be to the right since if you on the other side of the "pond") and M mode is when you use a paddle shifter or move the shifter forward or back while it was in S mode.

For fastest launch, make sure you have

Torque scaling after launch all the way to the maximum. This will not produce more torque than your engine can, but if it is put too low, you will reduce your global torque if you use LC to launch.

By Gear torque limit, for AWD with decent tires, put the slider no less than 750Nm for every gear. Unless you have tire spin in the 1st gear, no need to lower. The reason is a proper stage 2 E30 map can give you 650Nm + in 1st gear during LC, you will waste that torque if you put it lower than this.

"Set Launch Torque" was meant to define the brake boost max torque when the car remains still. For me I found this settings doesn't make difference. No matter what I set it to, with a DME Tune, my brakes cannot keep the car still and the car moves forward a bit during LC, and it always ends up~ 360Nm Torque. For comparison, this number for full stock car during LC is 290Nm.

Related to shift speed, adjust the torque reduction during upshift. From XHP, putting this number higher makes faster and crispier shift. That's true, but the car loses more momentum ~200ms during each shift which makes your time worse. XHP also said reduce the torque reduction causes more transmission wear but makes the car run overall faster. This is not exactly the case for me. I found from logging that if this number is <-10%, although the torque loss between each gear is smaller, the shift takes much longer to settle, and the torque during this phase is delayed and reduced. And all things considered my 0-60 time was 0.1s slower if I use -10% for gear 1-2-3. My current best setting is to keep them all at 0%.

Take off in 2nd gear, really not needed for AWD. You can get 1.4G in 1st gear when all settings are properly adjusted! Imagine how much initial thrust you lose starting in 2nd. You have tire spin in 1st? Use Torque by gear to control that.

just wanted to share my experience on xhp stage 1 for 2 years and recently switching to stage 2.

with stage 1:

-in “D” the car shifts from 1-8th gears in eco pro/comfort/ sport

-in sport + shifts from 1-6 gears

with stage 2 i noticed:

-in “D” the car shifts from 1-8 gears in eco pro/comfort/sport/sport +

-now with shifter to the left “S” mode car will shift thru 1-6 in eco pro/comfort/sport/sport+

I use stage 3 and only other modification is I turned off ignition cut. No reason to be flooding a cylinder every time I shift.

I also noticed that the chirping from the serpentine belt is gone after I turned this off.

Tell me about this chirping you hear because I hear a similar noise when on throttle but goes away when off throttle.

I have a jb4, running map 5 with E30 fuel and xhp stage 2 flash.

On hard acceleration in sport plus with sport shifting on, I hear a chip on up shift from 1-2 and 2-3.

It happens more on hotter days.

I’m pretty sure it’s belt slippage and/ or the AC compressor pulley. I replaced the tensioner and belt less than 1000 miles ago and that did not fix it.

Turn off the AC and it’s gone.

I also turned off ignition cut on XHp and it reduced the chirping.
