Baby on the way, and wondering if anyone has suggestions for baby proofing? If I remember correctly, I think I saw a comment about some folks using a plastic liner between the X3 seats and the car seat? If so, any suggestions? Anything else for protecting the rear seating area? I figure a good car wash and detailing program is top of the list haha.

There’s always adoption! (Or good floor mats that cover the entire surface back there)

All kidding aside... yes, go on Amazon and buy the protective liner that goes between the car seat and the leather seats. Maybe look into all weather mats with lipped edges to catch food particles (read cheerios and goldfish) and spilled water, etc. Vacuum... a lot (like weekly or multiple times a week if using regularly as the kid hauler). PPF trunk edges for putting kid stuff into and out of the trunk every day.
Or, just let it go and realize no matter what you do, the car is going to get dirty, scratched, and pretty beat down. But in the end, it's just a car. Enjoy it as a kiddo hauler!

I've got one on the way - planning on getting something like these to line the whole backseat with.

I'll never forget rolling home after a children's Christmas party at my work. My son puked all through my 1988 528e.
The leatherette shined that day. Cleaned right up! The carpet probably still smells like bad milk.
The secret to kid proofing a car is not allowing them to bring food and drinks on trips (short of epic vacation drives). I raised four kids with that rule.

My kids know the rules… no food or drink except water in my car.

Just go to Bed Bath & Beyond, buy a nice big bath towel that matches the interior color closely. Cut holes in it for the seat belt and for the head rests to go thru it, put it down on the seat 1st and then put the car seat on top of it.
This way you can pull it out when needed and wash it. If you really want to get fancy with it once you have the holes figured out have a local seamstress stitch the border edges of the holes to keep them from tattering out.

Was thinking the same thing with my 4 year old and 1 year old in mind whom at least one I'll need to daily haul.
Have people considered seat covers (Coverking)? How well does the Sensatec clean up after spills or dirty/muddy footprints? Thanks

Putting a towel under the car seat is not enough in most cases. It will leave impression on the leather under the child seat. Get a heavy duty child seat protector from amazon. I personally never covered anything else for both kids. Once the kid starts kicking the back of the drivers seat, I used a protector there for a while.

1. Spray bottle in the trunk for the weathertech trunk liner. The stroller will get dirty.
2. Seat covers for under the car seat.

Mine is also the family hauler...trunk lip PPF is getting delivered today or tomorrow.
Link to those seat protectors? I've got a protector between the car seat base not he seat, but my kid's legs are just getting long enough to hit the back of the seat so I'll need some protection there soon.

I waited until my kids were older and out of car seats before I bought anything nice. My Honda Pilot and Toyota Sienna were trashed by them! LOL! I'm sure the new owners who bought them are still finding cheerios to this day in it. I'm too OCD to have a nice car knowing they will destroy it.

I got the Lamin-x and installed it myself. Took a little bit of skill but pretty straight forward install. Looks great. Haven't abused it yet, but so far would recommend.

We use this on our past two cars and the same brand front seat (kick) guard. Works well enough. I ratcheted down the seats fairly aggressively in our '11 wagon sans protector and there are permanent indentations. Take it easy, snug vs rigid. We ordered our X3 M40i with Sensatec instead of leather due to kiddos, messes, and seat longevity.
