Brake pad service due - warning light
The rear brake pad change service notification has been on for a while. The car has just had an MOT and no advisory re brake pads, so I think this means more than 3mm left on them. So they do not need replacing. My car now has the brake light illuminated and keeps telling me to service the brake pads, overdue by 12 miles. Do I need to change the brake pads as they are perfectly fine according to MOT? Thank you

Did you personally inspect the pads? I know it’s a PIA especially after the MOT….
However it’s not uncommon for an issue to present itself after coming from the stealership! Inspecting the pads would be the first thing I’d check. The sensor would be the second! HTH |

Your brake wear sensor has triggered. Supposed to happen at 3mm but...tolerances.
You have some pad life left, but it's time to plan to replace your pads (and sensor). If this is the first pad change on this set of rotors, you will likely be able trust do a pad change. Confirm by measuring the rotor thickness and comparing to the minimum spec.
