Using the gear lever to shift manually useless?

Guys, does anyone else use the shifter in the centre stack to change gears manually? my lever is much looser than that of my F30 and when you try and shift up or down, due to lack of resistance, just pops back over to D.

just wanted to see if others have this issue or if its a problem with this specific car

No, only use the shift paddles behind the steering wheels. I have decided that my hands are best staying on the steering wheel at all times.

That sounds like something you should have looked at. Mine is pretty snappy though I only use it on occasion.

I use it 95% of the time. Mine does not feel as you described and never had it pop back in D (auto)

It should work exactly like how your F30 worked. The only time it should pop back is when you press the P button while the shifter is on the left.

Mine doesn't pop back that easily when I use it.
I use the shifter paddles mostly but notice it sometimes automatically goes back in to automatic mode while the shifter doesn't.

I feel my Lexus way faster response to me downshifting than my BMW. I typically use it if there's a police officer and I don't want to use my brakes (for him not seeing my brake lights turn on)

Mine is fine - should get yours looked at.

I used the stick when I'm driving one handed (don't ask - it happens but I cannot recollect why) and use left hand to go up/down.

I only use it occasionally, and that is if I am ripping around a bit, and am taking a tight turn and I have the wheel turned in a way that my hands aren't near the paddles, then I will just quick tap the lever... haven't noticed any issues with it.

also i always use the gear shifter in my cars - im not sure why but im not a fan of steering wheel paddles
