Carwizard video (I like and dislike things about him and his channel).
The gist from that video (on Jeeps, btw) is to replace all 4 tires every time you replace one. For a simpleton (no offense) that can't compare treadwear (and use some common sense) that may be sound logic, but for most people 2 is fine. You want the fronts to match and you want the rears to match almost perfectly size/tread (and brand/model) wise, independently of front/rear. Front to rear, you need to match circumference wise within a percentage difference that is fine to be different at 1% I believe. You technically wouldn't want brand new front and 90% worn out rear (or vice versa) but then again it is time to replace all of them at that point anyway.
