Difference between D, S, M, in m-sport.
Just saw today that when i choose sport settings, then put the stick to semi-auto mode, front display will change from D to S. If i then change speed manually, display will chabge to M.
I can feel the difference in M mode, but is there a difference between D and S? |

D=Normal
S=Sport - Higher RPM shift points than "Normal" mode M=Manual shifting - You make the call, but dumb moves over-ridden (like stopping in M5 and not downshifting before starting out. It'll shift to M1, then stay there). You can also leave it the shift to the left, and get some M mode action, but it'll shift back to D when you are going on and off the throttle.

S also changes the throttle response to be much more aggressive than normal.

The way to engage this is just moving the shifter to the left correct (to engage the S mode)?

That's correct. And it's not just M Sport. It's standard to have DS on all autos as far as I know

On the M-sport models, you can also shift with the paddles while in D. It will switch directly to M, but if you leave it for a while without doing anything, it will switch back automatically to D.
As mentioned above, if you're in S before touching the paddles, it will stay in M, and override any dumb moves you make. I don't have enough KMs on my car yet to push it into high RPMs, but I'll be curious to see where it overrides a shift when you approach the red line |
