Urgent! Need help replacing center support bearing
2013 x3 35i, disconnected driveshaft from Trans.
How do I split the driveshaft, I don't see a bolt to remove I can slide the front half of the shaft and I see the splines but it won't separate Thanks in advance Rube Last edited by Rube; 11-06-2021 at 06:12 PM.. |

Thank you for the response @Wgosma. I though there might have been a c-clip there somewhere as it didn't have a bolt holding the driveshaft together as I've seen in other BMWs. I'll leave this here in case someone else needs the info.
We simply pulled harder to split the 2 halves apart, there is a plastic retainer at the end of the splines of the rear half of the driveshaft which slides into the front half of the driveshaft and kind of locks them together, took a fair bit of force but came apart, no tools required. I was experiencing a pretty significant vibration under my seat when accelerating hard from a low speed or stop. The original giubo and center bearing looked perfect but i figured i came this far so I replaced both. Vibration is gone but I've only driven a few miles but so far so good. |
Appreciate
