Msport Update and Pictures compilation!
So its been a while since we have talked about the msport. But now with new picture releases we have a much better idea of how it looks like so lets dicuss again: the white orginial pics from bmw, the silver msport from chicago, the vermillion that palbay saw, the carbon black from palbay, and the deap sea blue msport from geneva or wherever.
Has anyone else got the Msport? Think it is any better now with the new pics? Pls post your msport if you ordered and color choices/trim! |

I changed my order from SE to M Sport a while back, I was indecisive about its looks, the pictures helped, I'm still not committed to colour choice to be honest, but I'm a little worried about changing anything in my spec. now (see signature), in case it should add to the delay.

I think the latest pictures from Geneva looks great. I agree among others that it needs big wheels when going with msport. I want the 20" wheels but they are to expensive, I hope 19" also will look good. Btw I went for black sapphire

Always love the M-sport since the first pic surfaced on the net. It is just great value for the amount of options it includes. Many are skeptical about its look, the key to complete the M-sport styling are big alloys. It is absolutely hideous to have 18" (Chicago Auto Show). Even 19" seem insufficient at some angles.
The base model looks fine with 18" and great with 19", due to its black plastic arches around the wheels. But I'm not confident that the plastic will hold its color over time. Don't understand why 20" are so expensive for X3, and so many believe it will "destroy" the ride, non sense. Q5, XC60 and GLK offer all kinds of 20" alloys, how can X3 being biggest in the class too "pimp my ride" to have 20"? If you have the money to buy a X3, spend the extra bit to complete the look. Either go completely basic or take X-line and 19" together. M-sport and 18" will look just "tasteless". Someone is probably going to react to what I've wrote... Let's hear it. If I was you I would use 20" in wintertime sins the potholes are cowered with snow and you probably not notice them. Norway who has the bad road standard who Clarkson claim in a newspaper the are more sense to use 17" wheels in summertime if you not should spend 50K Nok on rim's each year.

Honestly, the M-sport is kind of embarrassing. What BMW needs is an option to replace the plastic bumper and side-skirt components with body painted plastic or painted metal. Not being able to integrate the exhaust into the rear bumper like the X5 and X6, BMW had to compromise with some sort of a cost-cutting, contrast black plastic.

It's mainly because of the toothy, gaping front body kit. If it were a bit less dramatic... |

Ok i completely agree the front does look ricey, the back looks better with the bigger bumper (SE), and the side skirts shud stay on. Oh jeez the only thing keeping me back are the M badges steering wheel etc. Someone shoot me down to make me feel better! Im on verge of calling my dealer to change the order again!!

What value are M badges on a non-M car? I've never understood the value of M-badging on a car that's dressed kinda like an M, but really isn't. If I'm able to buy an M, you bet I'll be diggin' M indicators wherever I can get them.
For me, the M-sport package doesn't look so great on the X3. I really like it on the 335i, but not the X3. I didn't have the choice to order it, so it's kind of hollow to say I wouldn't have, but I don't think I would have. I do like the front view, but the rest of it actually looks less sporty to me rather than more. If you like the M-sport, more power to you and enjoy, just not my preference.
