Coding CarPlay on MGU failed
Hello, hopefully, this is the right place to post this. I wanted to add CarPlay to my G01 X3 2022, so I bought this coding service on BimmerTech as I heard good things about them. However, after three attempts, they couldn’t install CarPlay successfully.
The first attempt failed, the second one they re-flashed the whole unit, and it worked, but they removed all the BMW apps, which means I couldn’t even use my app to unlock doors and everything else. The third attempt, they recoded the unit again, so finally, I had BMW apps again, and they told me that CarPlay would be available in my ConnectedDrive store to purchase directly. It wasn’t the case, since after more than a month, the option is still not available. Is there a way to have a lifetime solution that would keep all the BMW apps and wouldn’t need to be reprogrammed after a dealership visit? TIA |

Is there a reason it doesn’t if it’s a UK market car ?
Seems strange that it’s been a standard fit on UK G01 m sport well before 2022. Is there something odd about your car….. One thought, BMW changed MGU head unit supplier around late 21, and as a result cars manufactured during this time didn’t initially have CarPlay from factory. This was fixed around April 22, when BMW issued a free software update. Could this be your issue ? I’d be pushing BMW for answer to why your car is missing a standard feature, and how they plan to fix it. Last edited by avi66; 02-14-2024 at 06:52 AM.. |

Yeah, visit the dealer for possible sw update. Doesn't make sense based on your model year.

Re OTA updates for UK LCI, there was an update on my car 03/2023.67, and a new 11/2023.xx. The availability of updates may depend on the options on your car. Last edited by avi66; 02-11-2024 at 07:47 AM.. |

UPDATE:
Just went to BMW and I explicitly requested to install a new istep, which they weren’t even aware of the bug, and (initially) they tried to charge me, but after I explained to them the issue, they recoded under warranty and now I have 11/2023.50 with smartphone integration! |
