Key Fob Issue

Hello, I am a new member. I have an issue with our 2011 x3 i35 Xdrive. I recently changed the batteries in our key fobs, and the other day my wife went to take our daughter to school and the key fob was not recognized. It eventually recognized the key fob, but she does not trust it. She has been carrying both key fobs, so that she is not stranded. This morning she gets the message that the key fob battery needs to be replaced. I am at a loss as to what the problem is, especially since she has both fobs in her possession. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I did not measure the voltage as they were brand new out of the package.

Understood, I "recommend" you measure the voltage to rule that out, I've seen brand new batts with low voltage

If she had both key fobs inside the car…did you change the battery in both fobs? If not, how do you know that the message wasn’t for the other fob that still had the old battery?

Also, this is one of MANY threads about owners replacing the remote fob’s battery and the message remained. You can do a simple google search using some keyword PHRASE like “Replace battery in BMW remote error won't go away” to read of the same issue you’re having.

Good luck…what battery brand do you buy and how fresh is it?
