Service history could sometimes given you an indication of the ownership and usage as well. I typically look at whether services were documented and done in a timely manner at the dealership.
Folks that are modifying these cars or abusing them are more susceptible to possibly skipping maintenance or having an independent. The dealer will also make notes on issues that happened with the car.
I purchased my car based on the consistency of the service history at that particular dealer and the fact that I would take an extended warranty for a little longer.
Down the line, I plan to do power mods anyway and will deal with what comes with that.
