Good to hear more subjective opinion on the lag and ride comfort that matches what a lot of owners are saying, that neither issue is that bad. Those numbers are pretty nuts (especially skidpad) but as someone who has never and will never use launch control, the 5-60 time is somewhat unfortunate. Still fast to be sure.

Edit:
Here are C&D numbers to compare the X3 M40i. M40i is a very quick SUV as well and for the street may be considered "more appropriate" than the real M, but we all want more...

2018 X3 M40i:

Weight 4308
HP/Torque 355/369 (2020 model adds 27 hp)
0-60 4.4s
5-60 5.3s
0-100 11.2s
30-50 2.8s
50-70 3.4s
1/4 mi 13.0s at 107 mph
70-0 braking 158 ft
Skidpad 0.85
C&D economy 19 mpg

And the 2020 M340i (RWD) for further presumptive comparison towards G8x M3/4:

Weight 3813
HP/Torque 382/369
0-60 3.8s
5-60 4.7s
0-100 9.4s
30-50 2.4s
50-70 2.9s
1/4 mi 12.3s at 114 mph
70-0 braking 156 ft
Skidpad 0.96
C&D economy 23 mpg
