PSA: iOS 15.X will not work with *Non-MFi Certified* Ethernet Adapters for Coding

Edit:
jzmundy

indicated a reasonably priced adaptor that will work with iOS 15. It appears the adaptor has to be MFi certified with Apple in order to work with the new iOS.

If I end up getting it, I will post back with results.

Just FYI, I upgraded my iPhone Xs Max to iOS 15.1 yesterday and my ODBII to Ethernet adapter no longer works.

I did some searching online and it seems that many are having this issue.

What this means is Bimmercode/Bimmerlink/Bootmod3/etc. will no longer work if you are using an ethernet cable with adaptor (it will not get an IP address).

From what I have read, it seems Apple is in no rush to fix this. Apparently there is a Belkin adapter that works (for $100).

As a workaround, luckily I had an old iPhone 6+ which tops out at iOS 12.x so I loaded Bimmercode on that and was able to code my X3MC.

I assume everything will work with one of the supported wireless adapters.

But if you plan on coding, don't upgrade your iOS until you do or use an old device. Or plan to get a Belkin cable.

Here's one reference
