Excellent.

I've been wondering why we're suddenly able to get such substantial discounts on these cars. I had a theory about pre-order triage and wondered about the impending effect of US/EU/China tariffs.

But now I think it's good ole economics: supply and demand. Today, the WSJ reported:

"[BMW's] net profit dropped 6.4% from last year’s second quarter to €2.06 billion ($2.40 billion), with sales 2.9% lower at €25 billion."

X3 is a huge winner for BMW at the moment and they clearly want to pump up revenue. So, they're expanding capacity and putting serious money on X3 hoods.

I gotta say, it feels like a golden moment to buy one of these things. Deep discounts on nearly brand-new, high-end models (which, apparently, have plenty of profit margin) don't come along every day. It looks like declining sales and trade-war uncertainty are working for us.
