LOL - not on top of the dash where the airbag is, for sure... totally agree that would have been disastrous if the airbag deploys...
The Captain front seats in our minivan is very roomy and my kids can sit there cross-legged when they feel like it. Moving their feet in and out of knee level, they would inevitably leave their footprints on the glovebox area or scuff the lower part of the dash trim with their shoes. This happen only in my wife's minivan since my wife doesn't care much about the condition of her van, for her the van is only a tool to shuffle kids around and not something she enjoys spending time in.

Since Day 1 I've been training my kids to be more careful in my X3. But my point is, you can minimize the 'accidents' but you can't eliminate them all.
