well its better to not switch tires on the wheels twice a year, less wear and tear on the wheels. Seems like I have always read to go with new wheels for your winter tires (not just from the shop).
tire rack has some nice wheels for under $1000 for the set, I think its well worth it, saves your BMW OEM wheels from the harsh winter too.
