I would look into the option of getting PPF on the door sills since it will offer better protection. I had it done to the front doors of our M40i as there typically isn't any rear passengers.
Our F25 had quite a bit of wear and scratching after 8 years and I didn't want to have the same issue, especially owning it from new.
Don't mind the winter mess.
