When does public safety supercede the execution of duty? Does it depend on what the officer is engaged in at the time?
I'm genuinely curious as I seem to get different answers.

Public safety is always a concern. Please keep in mind that public safety is the exact reason for certain exemptions. Exigency requires haste. Imagine if I just took my sweet 'ol time responding to a domestic violence incident. The end result wouldn't be pretty (...
not that it ever is).
