Instrument cluster cracked

I've got a minor crack in my instrument cluster and I'm not that bothered by it but wanted to do a little research into my options for repairing it. My first instinct is to pull the clear plastic cover from another cluster and replace it. But looking at pictures of the part, it appears to be bonded in place. Does anyone have experience removing the "glass" or is that pretty much a non-starter?

The other option I could see is instead of swapping the glass, just coding the replacement instrument cluster and installing that. But I'm not sure what is and isn't possible when it comes to the coding of parts like this, and also if I need to be more selective about the donor vehicle.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
