In my OP there is a link to the stickied
thread on the G80 site. They figured out how to change the map light.
There was a lot of trial and error just figuring out the Idrive7 profile selections with my OBDLink LX (wireless). In hindsight, I should have gone the ENET route but I don't see myself venturing into ESYS anytime soon, so it is what it is.
Slow connection + working in an uncovered parking lot + sweating my a$$ off + no internet connection (airplane mode) = gave up after figuring out how to get Blue/Red & Red/Blue only
