That's totally fine. I like fast SUVs too, but they have to be somewhat family friendly.

That is not true. There is GLA, which is the lowest MB SUV. Then there is GLB which is brand new. GLB is below GLC, but has that awesome modern MB interior. Check it out! If GLB didn't look like a shoebox, i would consider buying one for my wife. X3M has exactly the same position in the BMW lineup as the GLC63 for Mercedes. X3 is above X2 (GLB competitor) which is above X1 (GLA competitor). There is also the X5 (GLE competitor) and X7 (GLS competitor).

I think with the introduction of the GLC, I would think that the GLA would better compete with the X2 due to the "hatch-like" design, while the GLB would go against the X1 with its more conventional and practical shape.
