It's a Thinkware-made dash cam. It doesn't integrate with iDrive. It's a well made, basic dashcam, that has a screen, parking mode, and continuous drive recording. I'd say it's a close relative of the Thinkware X1000. That said, if you don't mind not having BMW logos and such, you can get more functionality just by buying a Thinkware dashcam, or other well-known brand dashcams like Blackvue (cloud features, different camera configs, higher res, etc.).

Installs just like any other dash cam.. comes with a 3-wire hardwire kit (power, accessory, and ground wire) and a long cable to route to the rear camera. The official installation instructions require you to splice into a wire on one of the BDC plugs due to the front fusebox not having an accessory power fuse (the rear fusebox does though).
