BMW just revised the SIB and added new part numbers for the front tension strut. I don't know whether the new parts (31 10 8 854 993 and 31 10 8 854 994) are available yet, but they will probably supersede the old parts (31 10 8 854 989 and 31 10 8 854 990). Hope this will fix it once and for all. Just sent mine in for the 3rd time to get the tension strut replaced (Last replacement was 7 months ago!
