Some manufacturers equip their cars better in US where there is tougher competition from better value Cadillacs, Fords, GMC, Chevrolets etc. Here in Europe, you get little for free regardless whether you buy a base engine or a more expensive one. BMW squeeze you for every convenience and fun toy you can think of. The only thing I didn't have to pay for was heated seats, which in Singapore, isn't standard on the X3 for obvious reasons.
BMW are gradually improving here but are behind Mercedes who have become more generous in the recent 1-2 years.
