I had my dealer disable the kick-to-open sensor before I took delivery as a precautionary measure. Might be worth considering for anyone having this problem. For me, I never used the kick-to-open on any of my previous cars so it was no loss to have it disabled.
Of course the dealer had never ever ever seen anyone have this problem before, yadda yadda. Perhaps no-one comes to them because they know they will get a less than useless response, lol.
