The manual says, "Automatic idle state

The idle state is automatically established under the following conditions:

After several minutes, if no operation takes place on the vehicle...."

This seems to happen in about 10 minutes for me.
My problem is that I sometimes want to listen to the sound system while I am outside the car, perhaps doing some detaining operation. Using BMW terminology, I want it to remain in standby state for a longer period. The manual for standby state says, "Desired settings can be adjusted", but I don't know how to do any such thing.

Is there some way that I can lengthen the timeout period? Alternatively, what is the minimum operation that is required to reset the timeout period?
