Its a measurable indication. all depends how the manufacturer are doing their test. Just like HP. Its not perfect but gives a good indication. Yes a 200hp fwd hyundai veloster is 1 sec slower than an heavier audi 200hp quattro. But still can gives you a good indication; like the veloster will do the 0-60 under 10 sec for sure.
On my dd I run continental DW, and they last way less.
I use DWS for many many years, 'Im on my 3rd set, and people will say the same , they last for a very long time. Ratio miles-per-dollar is very good.
Warranty might not be important to most people, but on quattro and Xdrive, many stories with continental did change 4 tires under warranty because all 4 tires ''should'' be the same outside diameter.
Not all company will do this.
