Indeed this is where you are mistaken. The flap is not directly affected by the driving mode. Even in Sport+ the flap will be closed at idle while the engine is not up to temperature.
Since disabling ASD I know from experience now that the increase in exhaust volume when switching to Sport+ at idle is 100% artificial from the ASD system and nothing to do with the flap.
