You didn't by any chance have cold temperatures (below zero)?

This happened to me once while it was freaking cold. The door was frozen tight and I couldn't open it. What happened was that while I've tried to open the frozen shut door, I actually opened the lock. The handle went back as normal when I released it, but the locking system stayed open because of the frost.

When I was driving, the temperature was rising in the car and door. The frost in the door lock disappeared and it opened during driving. I was at a stopsign then, so everything was ok
