To put it in perspective, our new X3 28i is like an F1 car compared to our old 2004 X5 3.0i. I miss the looks of the X5 and the width, but the technological advances, power and fuel economy of the X3 has kept us from lamenting our old girl, the X5. The X5 had just about all the preventive maintenance done, but the upcoming repairs would just been absurd - i.e. Transmission replacement (already on 2nd one), the LCM replacement, and all the dead pixel work.

I'm sure you'll enjoy the X3 - especially if you get the JB tune. Really fun.
It feels almost as quick around town because the transmission can compensate for it. Once you need passing power at highway speeds, the difference is apparent.
